Biosafety and Biosecurity Training

MBBA conducts and offers an extensive range of training courses on biosafety and biosecurity for all levels. Whether you are from the top management, executive or technical level, we have the right course for you. Our major training workshops include :

1.     The Malaysian Advanced Biosafety Officer Training (MABOT)

The MABOT workshop is MBBA’s flagship training program. A comprehensive training program suitable for biosafety officers, laboratory  managers, safety executive and all level of technical personnel, the program covers all aspects of biorisk management. The training includes 30 days of lectures, discussion, group work and field visits, and are spread over 3 periods of two weeks each. Participants who successfully complete the training and passed a written examination are eligible for the Registered Biosafety Professional (RBP) certification. MABOT graduates are also certified competent trainers for any of the MBBA training programs. The minimum requirement for MABOT certification is a BSc degree in any biology related subjects and 5 years of working experience in a biorisk management capacity.

2.     The Registered Biosafety Professional Training (RBP)   


The RBP program is an intensive 10-day program conducted over two weeks. The RBP is suitable for all levels, including managerial personnel with responsibilities in biosafety and biosecurity. Participants who successfully complete the training and passed a written exam will be awarded the RBP certification and are competent to conduct training at their own institutions with the assistance of the MBBA. The minimum requirement for MABOT certification is a BSc degree in any biology related subjects and 5 years of working experience in a biorisk management capacity. Prior learning experience can be counted towards the requirement for candidates without the necessary academic qualifications.  
 

3.     Biorisk management awareness series of workshop (BMAS)


The BMAS training offers basic introduction to biorisk management and is suitable for all level of personnel. The course introduces participants to general aspects of biosafety and biosecurity, and assist participants in choosing the next program for skills upgrading.  
 
 

4.     Customised training program  


MBBA also offers training program customised to an organisation on site. Please contact the exco for further information and discussion.  
 
 
 

5.      Online and continual education training


MBBA is currently developing a series of online and open learning packages that can be accessed over the internet. Participants can choose and complete specific modules and work towards the attainment of the RBP and MABOT status through a guided and structured curriculum.
