The MBBA RBP Program
The Registered Biosafety Professional (RBP) Program is a
certification program by the MBBA for biosafety officers. The RBP certification
acknowledges that a biosafety officer has attended and successfully completed
the necessary training programs, and acquired the skills and knowledge necessary to implement effective biosafety and
biosecurity management at their institutions. RBPs are also qualified as
trainers for basic biorisk management programs developed by the MBBA.
To qualify for the RBP certification,
an applicant must have :
a)
A
valid membership in the MBBA
b)
Attended
a biorisk management course organized by the MBBA*
c)
Successfully
passed the end of course assessment
d)
At least a bachelor's degree in any
bioscience or biomedical course
e)
Experience in working in a biomedical
laboratory, ideally in a safety related position
f) Proficient in
English with excellent communication skills
g)
Some experience teaching or mentoring
at any level in any
subject
The RBP certification is valid for a period of 5
years, upon award, and may be renewed by either re-taking the assessment, or by
accumulation of knowledge and skills from attending and conducting training and
education in biosafety and biosecurity
